An
Unforgettable Stay at the Westin Maui Oceanfront Resort
(Article exclusive to Maui.US) - My husband and
I stayed at the Westin Maui Resort for 10 days on our
5th wedding anniversary in 2009.
My first
visit to Maui was our honeymoon vacation 5 years earlier,
and I was very excited to visit Maui again.
As we walked
through the grand entrance of the Westin Maui Resort,
friendly hotel staff gave us little sea shell necklaces,
called "leis" in Hawaii, as a welcome symbol.
I was immediately
impressed with a spectacular lobby, flawless landscaping
and luxury amenities.
The lobby
area had a lot of open space leading into the gardens,
habituated by parrots, flamingos, and other exotic animals;
there were also huge beautiful tropical fish swimming
in the hotel's garden pond.
While Maui has so much to offer
that one hardly spends much time at a hotel, our vacation
experience was certainly enhanced by the quality of
the Westin Maui Resort, and here are some of the reasons
why:
Hotel Room. We had an
Ocean View room in the Beach Tower on one of the top
floors.
We had an excellent view of
Westin's magnificent pools and gardens, the Ka'anapali
Beach, and, of course, the vast ocean; looking the opposite
direction we had a view of a perfectly manicured golf
course and mountains.
The hotel staff arranged for
a complimentary champagne bottle on our first day at
the hotel, and we sipped that Champagne bottle as we
enjoyed these lushly views from our balcony.
Each night the lobby was scented
with amazing aloe white tea incense.
Supreme Location. Our
hotel was located in a supreme location, with the proximity
to the towns of Lahaina, Kapalua and Whalers' Village,
an outdoor mall.
Along the Ka'anapali Beach,
we could easily walk to the other hotels, such as Hyatt
and Sheraton, and explore more shopping and eating out
options.
The hotel provided a free shuttle
to Lahaina, the cool little town on Maui with more fine
dining restaurants per square mile than anywhere else
in the US!
Needless to say, we frequented
Lahaina quite a lot.
Ka'anapali Beach. Nothing
can beat staying at an oceanfront resort with an ocean
view. The Ka'anapali beach was right behind the hotel's
pools, literally 10 steps away: I could easily walk
back to my hotel room and then back to the beach within
minutes.
My husband and I would rent
beach umbrellas and chairs and spend the entire day
enjoying the ocean.
The beach was super clean, with
nice sand, fun waves and beautiful water.
I had an immensely enjoyable
experience just watching the beach side, seagulls, boats
taking off with tourists to watch the sunset, people
parasailing, surfing, and snorkeling.
The Ka'anapali Beach at the
Westin is not as busy as many other resort beaches on
Maui, which makes for a nice and tranquil experience.
The Ka'anapali Beach goes on
and on, and I could walk either direction from the Westin
to check out other nearby hotels and their restaurants.
