Wailea
Ekolu Village - (exclusive to Maui.US by
Lottie Tagupa) It's is located upslope from the large
and fancy beachfront resorts and a lifetime away from
the rows of budget condos in Kihei.
The drive
to the resort takes about 30 minutes from the Kahului
airport and travels past several south shore beaches
and neighborhoods, restaurants and dive shops which
continue to the entrance of the Wailea Resort.
Once inside
the resort, the ambiance changes from a scruffy beach
town to something more private, with an ambiance that
is quieter, private and certainly more exclusive.
There are
several condominium resorts in Wailea and the Ekolu
is probably the best located and easy to find.
Located just
off Wailea Ike Drive, one of the main thoroughfares
in the resort, it is easy walking distance to shopping,
restaurants, golf and tennis.
Just across
the street is the Wailea Tennis Club where one can reserve
a court, arrange a session with a pro or even a ball
machine rental.
The club
offers racquet and shoe rentals, weekly clinics and
special visitor's memberships. In addition, there are
security guards, a front desk, concierge services, Dry
cleaning/laundry service, picnic and patio areas in
addition to four outdoor charcoal-type barbecue areas
on the property.
While not
located directly on the beach the resort has easy access
to several of Maui's most beautiful beaches.
Ulua and
Waile beaches are just a shady stroll away while the
larger and more exciting and remote beaches of Makena
and Paipu are less than 10 minutes away along wide resort
roads.
Just makai

shopping centers on the island.
The Shops

The Shops at Wailea offers a small collection of fashion
boutiques, shops, restaurants and galleries. Once can

Louis Vuitton or even enjoy fresh sushi in a casual
setting at the trendy izakaya Kai or a sculpture or
painting to take home at Dolphin Galleries.
Also within
a nice shady stroll is one of the best spas in the island.
Terme at the Grand Wailea is a huge stylish spa that
offers everything from manicures to all day spa packages.
For the golfers, the resort of Wailea has no less than
three courses.
The Old Blue
course is a classic course with upslope fairways and
view of Haleakala, the Gold Course is a Robert Trent
Course that is the most challenging. The Emerald Course
is the most popular with casual players who are on the
lookout for wide fairways and great scenery.
There are an additional two
courses just down the road at Makena. The Wailea Ekolu
Village is a part of the Wailea wonderful resort development
that is sheltered by an abundance of coconut and exotic
palm trees, well tended gardens, manicured walkways.

dormant volcano.
Makai views include the Pacific
Ocean and neighboring islands of Molokini and Kahoolawe.
The Wailea Ekolu is a well priced
condominium complex for family gatherings or for those
on extended stays on Maui.
Lots of space, privacy and comfort
make this property fill quickly especially for the Christmas
holidays and summer.
Smaller than the other complexes
in the area, Ekolu has just 18 acres and 148 units set
in seventeen low rise clusters sandwiched between Wailea
Iki Drive and the 15th fairway and 16th tee of the Old
Blue Course at Wailea.
