Sugar
Beach - Is
practically located in the Valley region and closest
to Maalea. This means it is closest to Lahaina and farthest
from Wailea.
So if you
want to stay on the South Maui Coast, the location is
best for anything water related such as cruises and
whale watching, and add a few minutes travel time for
golf.
On the other
hand, add a few more minutes travel, you're in the golf
resort of Kaanapali on the far western tip of Maui.
It's also about as close to the airport as you can get
and still stay on South Maui.
There's no
huge savings in travel. Point is, this is the midpoint
of South Shore.
South Kihei Road runs basically
north-south parallel to the shore. You get on this road
via route 310, and there is a flood of condos along
the way south.
Sugar Beach sits to the undeveloped
north side of this intersection on North Kihei
Road.
You still have the Kihei Road
access, but with a lot less crowd, noise and traffic.
Nice!
The condo complex is situated
on only 3 acres, but the huddle close to the ocean.
You can choose ocean view, garden view or mountain view
(facing to sea, facing sideways, facing the mountain
respectively). The location is "valley" and
the wind is not blocked by the volcano. Expect to be
visited by the tradewinds.
The Sugar Beach resort has its
own general store, which is important for staying in
a condo. You are renting someone's home, and you will
need to stock the kitchen with groceries. If you are
really tired when you arrive, which is likely, you may
want to grab the basics for breakfast.
Groceries in Kihei are pricey
(they are anywhere in Hawaii) and you can save by getting
a Safeway shoppers card and finish stocking up there.
The Sugar Beach resort offers
free long distance calls to its guests to Canada and
the mainland USA.
High speed internet is complimentary
in all rooms.
Also on site are a swimming
pool, Jacuzzi, wading pool, sauna, sundeck and putting
green..
Units are one and two bedroom
with kitchen.
