 The
Royal Kahana - (exclusive to Maui.US by Lottie
Tagupa) Just a few minutes from the Kapalua Airport
nestled between Kaanapali and Napili, Kahana is a small
collection of oceanfront condominiums and timeshares.
The area has a shopping center, several good restaurants
and a very convenient shuttle service to and from Whaler's
Village at the Kaanapali Resort.
This area
is a great option for those who would rather steer clear
of the high end atmosphere of the Kaanapali mega-resorts.
For those
who return year after year to Hawaii, Outrigger Hotels
is probably a familiar word. The resort chain offers
a collection of mainstream resorts and condominiums
that features great value, moderate pricing and comfortable
accommodations.
The Outrigger
Royal Kahana is no exception, especially when it comes
to large condo sized accommodations for families.
One can avoid
the busier Kahului airport and the subsequent hour drive
to the resort by using the nearby Kapalua airport. This
airport operates during daylight hours only and offers
service to and from Honolulu International Airport on
Oahu.
Flights into
and out of Kapalua tend to be pricier than Kahului and
the required connection from Honolulu Airport is the
trade off. However, it is convenient for those who are
looking to day trip to Oahu to visit the Arizona Memorial.
A car is
mandatory here. Although there are several activities
and restaurants within walking distance, however, a
car is required to access the Kahului airport, the nearby
Kaanapali Resort area the historic whaling town of Lahaina
not to mention other parts of island.
First time visitors to Maui
will certainly want to venture off to discover the drive
along Hana Highway or the summit of Haleakala, both
of which are easily an all day trip from this property.
Access to Molokini snorkeling
and nightlife are at least a 15 minute drive away.
The oceanfront resort is not
hard to find. Situated along Lower Honoapiilani Road,
it is well marked with a generous parking area and lighted
tennis courts visible from the road.
The complex has twelve floors
and over 220 rooms with a pool, Jacuzzi, laundry facilities,
barbecue grills and a small fitness center. There is
daily maid service, complimentary morning coffee in
the lobby and a welcome reception every Thursday afternoon.
Walking distance from the resort
is a collection of amazing beaches and restaurants.

across the street at the Kahana Gateway Shopping Center.
- Merriman's glorious new showplace
restaurant is located a short drive from the resort.
Dinner at Merriman's offers wonderful ocean and sunset
views and is easily now one of the finest dining experiences
in the islands.
