"Postcard View"
:: We were upgraded to an ocean view with a loft. Our
condo at the Maui Lu was approximately 40 ft from the
bay. The view was incredible. The loft window was very
large and allowed us to a 180 degree view. The only
downside was that room service was slower than normal.
I had to get towels for both my wife and myself on two
of our days. The hotel was a short driving distance
to most of the major attractions, stores, and restaurants.
"Maui Lu Satisfied
Client" :: In the start of the booking process
for Maui, we assumed that there couldn't possibly be
any bad parts of the island and therefore we decided
that we were going to book a less expensive, simple/basic
place to stay. And all of that was true, every inch
of that island is absolutely dreamy :) Maui Lu is really
close to the OGG airport, about 10 miles away therefore
it made it convenient. It is really close to everywhere
considering Maui is really tiny so no need to worry,
you're in the middle of everything! We wanted to invest
more of our time and finances into field trips, exploring
and activities within the island and that's the reason
we were less picky about where we were going to stay.
"Awesome Place, We'll
Be Back" :: Well we stayed for 6 nights in
May 2009 and what a deal! We saved some $ going with
the Maui Lu and were kind of worried with some of the
mixed reviews we read here but are so glad we stayed
here now. After reading reviews here we were already
aware that this is not a "resort style" property. We
opted to upgrade to their ocean front rooms for the
additional $25 a night and were so pleased! There are
no restaurants or bars on the property but there is
a small fridge in the room for drinks and small smacks,
which worked out perfect for us. We made our own drinks
at the hotel room while we enjoying the beach and a
refill was less than 20 yards away! The ocean front
rooms are across the beach road from the main resort
but we never even went to the main resort so we were
cool with this. Everything you need is at the building,
Ice, beach, nice patio. I highly recommend the ocean
front rooms and ask for a lower unit so you can walk
to and from beach and yard area freely. The Maui Lu's
grounds were clean, as is most of Hawaii, and the staff
made check in and check out fast and easy.
