The Luana Kai is unofficially known as "the best buy in Maui".

It has a functional home quality that appeals to down to earth clientele.

Units are inexpensive and as it is a residential/rental mixed use area, a quiet time is strictly enforced.

The striking thing about the Luana Kai is that it is oceanfront, but without a beach.

Therefore, there are no off-premesis tourists wandering into the complex.

It is totally private.

There are people who do not care for the beach.

If you are one, and there are many, the Luana Kai offers all the advantages without paying the premium for beachside property rental that you are not going to utilize anyway.

What it lacks in beach sand, it makes up for in room.

There is an expansive lawn between the ocean and the condos, a great place to relax, play with your children, or cook out.

It is unique in its beauty. Grass like this is usually covered with golfers.

The island of Lanai looms just offshore.

"Wonderful Place To Stay" :: I have stayed at the Luana Kai resort a total of 4 times over the span of 11 years. I have to say that it is a great place to stay at an affordable price. It is especially great if you like relaxed vacations where you feel like you are staying in a "home away from home". You can cook your own meals in your suite and use the BBQ by the pool...which is great as it is quite expensive to eat out in Maui. The grounds are very well kept and the staff friendly. The beach is not the greatest but it is a short drive to excellent beaches. I have stayed at other resorts in Maui and in Mexico and the Luana Kai is my favorite. I would recommend it to anyone. However if you are looking for a fancy 5 star hotel where you can be waited on this is not the resort for you.

"Perfect Family Accommodations" :: We just spent 10 days at Luana Kai (July 5-14) and it was the best family vacation we have ever taken!!! We loved Luana Kai!! The grounds were very clean and well maintained, the staff very helpful and friendly. We also loved how it's a low rise and so feels more personal and like a home setting. We loved our condo unit! Had an ocean front, spacious, clean unit on the ground floor which was perfect for our 4 kids to run out to the lawn or down to the beach every morning. The pool was a wonderful family gathering place and even though at times there were many people around the pool area, it was always quiet and peaceful. Every evening our family of 6 would take a walk along the beach in front of our condo and enjoy a stroll together! Our unit also had a couple extras that were perfect for us, like a couple of boogie boards, and a couple of ice chests. We would use these every time we'd venture out for the day to the beach. Our master bedroom was very spacious with a walk in closet a huge master bathroom. We felt like we had picked just the right accommodations for our family and would definitely come back. Luana Kai is also very centrally located right there in the Kihei area. Thank you to all of you who make Luana Kai so special!

"Hoping To Go Back" :: II hesitate to review this wonderful find because I'd rather keep it a secret :) My husband & I were looking for a place to stay that wouldn't be overcrowded or too expensive. This little condo area was just perfect for us! It has a beautiful little pool & hot tub area . The staff were very helpful & friendly. Our beautifully decorated room was on the third level which had an absolutely wonderful view. The picture we took from our room is actually hanging in our bedroom at home now. The only thing I could say some people may not like is that the beach that it sits off of is not an area you would want to swim .Otherwise if you are looking for a good deal, with plenty of room & good service this is the place!
