Lahaina
Shores - this
is the only beachfront rental available in Lahaina...
period.
One of the
reasons is that there are so few beaches in Lahaina,
the entire town is walled at the oceanside.
The slope
of the land tends to drop off fairly steeply at the
shoreline in Hawaii; consequently the beaches tend to
be narrow. It is just geology.
No one, other
than some marketing agent somewhere, calls the Lahaina
Shores a "resort". Not
the staff and not the customers who come back year after
year. It is a condo rental, which is a great thing in
and of itself without the "resort" title.
As such you get a really nice
place to stay, but no room service.
There is not a restaurant on
property to support room service, so if you are able
to live without a bellhop, you can find a good deal
at the Lahaina Shores.
Guests keep returning year
after year due to the great location and value.
The kitchens are fully functional,
everything is within walking distance, and the views
are perfect.
The Lahaina Shores is a full
7 stories tall and offers studio, 1 bedroom and 1 bedroom
penthouses 199 times over.
It sits on its own narrow beach
at the south end of Lahaina Town.
The units have their own lanais,
kitchens, ac, whirlpool spa and internet (fee).
Parking is $8 per day, which
is standard for the area.
It is next door to the Feast
at Lele, an award winning Luau.
Concierge is available, but
only if you book through the management company (as
you will be doing by making your reservations here through
Maui.US).
The Lahaina Sores is not
recommended if you smoke, there is no smoking allowed
anywhere on the premises, which this nonsmoking author
deems a little too aggressive.
It is very inconvenient and
unsafe for a smoker to have to leave their condo at
night and walk through the parking lot to smoke by the
street.
There is also daytime construction
going on at the time of writing (January 2010), but
few travelers have posted that they had problems with
it, and none mentioned arriving unaware of the work
being done.
