"Private Laid Back Condominiums" :: The Kealia is a condo, not a hotel. No maid service. This is definitely a do-it-yourself proposition. All of the units we have stayed in have been very nicely appointed, but since each unit is privately owned, they are all distinctly different. Do your homework and ask questions before you rent a particular room. The pool is small, but comfortable. We love laying out in the sun, going for a swim or snorkel in the ocean, walking the six mile long beach, then a final dip in the pool. It is so relaxing. Relaxing is what the Kealia is about. This is NOT about being pampered. It is about enjoying yourself in paradise at your own pace. If you like to be pampered, the Kealia is not for you. But if you want a fairly deserted beach to sun yourself and relax, this is definitely one of the best places on Maui - especially given the very reasonable room rates. There is no nearby restaurant. Plan on driving or cooking your own. The grills at Kealia are superb units: my wife and I buy Ono (a local fish) at Costco and make many of our own dinners to avoid overeating. We make our own breakfasts in the unit too.

"Value Priced" :: I just returned from a week at Kealia. Maui is absolutely beautiful this time of year. I would first like to say this resort is nice but in need of some minor repairs. The staff is friendly, however not readily available. Each unit is individually owned; therefore the condition of the units will vary. The view was fantastic, we stayed in #501 a nicely furnished beach front unit. However the air conditioner did not work very well (very small unit) and we saw some ants. To dealing with the cooling problem, at night we locked the metal screen door and left it open and opened the windows to allow the trade winds to cool the unit, this worked perfectly . The beach is absolutely beautiful and about 6 miles long, the pool and out door grill are in a nice area and the out area is well maintained. There is no maid service, so be prepared this is like being at home! Each unit is equipped with a washer and dryer and a nice fully stocked kitchen. This really comes in handy. There is not restaurant on this property only a deli in walking distance. This is my second time in Maui. I like this property for the value, but next time I will choose a property with more amenities.

"Am Coming Back" :: My husband and I stayed for 9 days at the Kealia Condos and loved it! It is a quiet place without a lot of noise like the big resorts. They have 51 units which makes it a smaller place, but that's why we liked it. We stayed in Rm. 103 which has an ocean front view and is a 1-bedroom 1-bath unit. We were literally steps away from the pool and then a few more steps and then we were at the beach which borders this property. The beach is clean, private, and swimmable. The property has well-manicured grounds, a clean pool, beautiful beach, and helpful people at the office and Roger, who's the property manager is always around and is very helpful too. The people who stay at this condo all seem to be very friendly and personable. The town of Kihei is a fun area and is just about 10 minutes South. We bought fresh fruit at the local fruit stands and everything was always better than anything we tasted on the mainland. Kealia Condos are a great value for the dollar. I recommend that you stay in the units that face the ocean because the road that borders the property can be a bit noisy. I am already looking forward to going back and staying at this property.
