Kamaole Nalu locationKamaole Nalu - Kamaole Nalu is a question of conscience.

Having read all the reviews I could find, and comparing them with the reviews of other rental units on Maui, I cannot recommend to my customers that they stay at the Kamaole Nalu.

I realize that there are people jobs and well being riding on reviews like this one, but more importantly there is the financial investment and time of people from the mainland.

They work very hard, save dearly and put up with alot to come to Maui. All they want is to be able to trust what they read, and not to be taken advantage of in some far away land by strangers.

I cannot ignore this. The Kamaole Nalu has some bridges to cross yet.

I hope to hear from the management and anyone else who is willing to give a contrary opinion.

I want to be wrong!

"Good Value" :: We have stayed twice at the Kamaole Nalu, once with our kids and once with my parents. It is near Kihei Rd. but we stay as close to the ocean as possible and only hear the surf. It is not a new facility but it is a good value. We will stay there again as we can stay there and eat in for much cheaper than a comparable hotel room. Whale watching from the lanai in season is incredible.

"GREAT LOCATION, LOUD NOISY ENVIRONMENT" :: Stayed two weeks in June (prepaid or we would have moved). O.K. unit in the middle of the building. Great ocean view. Outstanding beaches within a short walk. But if you're looking for peace and quiet FORGET it! Kihei Road has to be one of the loudest places in the world. Super loud motorcycles, booming cars (filthy rap music) and screaming fire/rescue trucks will keep your nerves on edge minute by minute. To add to the problem the manager has every gas power tool know to man. So be ready for daily leaf blowing, construction, mowing and chain sawing. Also don't bother showing up a minute (or hours) before the designated check-in time, you're not getting into your unit (ready or not).

"Breathtaking View....Rather Dated Resort" :: Great location- many restaurants nearby within easy walking distance. Units have a spectacular ocean view with breathtaking sunsets. The beach and great snorkeling are just steps away. The pool and grounds were comparable to most of the Kihei properties. On the downside the parking area was very small and the resort had only one elevator for the size of the building. The resort is rather dated which is a very noticeable issue with most of the beachfront resorts. Just a reminder that you are paying for the location and view. As a final note: Be careful going back to your unit in the afternoon- if you are on the 3rd or higher floor the trade winds almost blow you off the walkways!
