Expert Tips. The Kahana Beach Vacation Club makes stays even sweeter by hosting scheduled ice cream socials.

This is a nice change for many from the other resort hosted socials, which seem to always be alcohol-centered.

Be aware that there is an unusual check in time: 4:00 in the afternoon.

This may leave some travelers finding other things to do (which is not difficult to do).

Kahana Beach Club

Be sure to enjoy the beach walk. It is a path that winds through the world's best beach at Kaanapali, located about 4 miles away.

It offers access to beachfront resorts, shops and great dining.

The northernmost section of Kaanapali beach features Black Rock Beach, famously knkown for snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving.

Be aware from the picture to the right that half the units face the ocean, the other half face inland.

You can get a great view of the ocean if you want to whale watch, but you can get a better price deal on the units facing away from the ocean.

Also, although this property calls itself a club or resort, it is really a condo rental.

Random Reviews on the Napili Kai powered by Trip Advisor™...

"Loved It" :: I love this resort! However, I like beautiful views, the sound of the ocean, and a very relaxing vacation. I do not like all the glitz, crowds, etc of some of the more commercial spots on Maui, beautiful as they are. The room is tastefully decorated, and I love sitting on the lanai and seeing whales, surfers, etc. I also like just walking down to the beach...which is in front of our room, swimming, kayaking. If I want to go to a pool, it is just a few steps to the Sands of Kahana pool right by the Kahana Terrace restaurant. This is definitely a laid back place for people who like to make their own fun.

"Right On The Ocean" :: The units are spacious, with plenty of closet and drawer space to store your belongings. The shower/toilet area was a bit small but very manageable. The furniture is older rattan but it was in good and clean condition. Our murphy bed was also comfortable. There could have been a little more counter space in the kitchenette and there is no dishwasher. But plenty of dishes, glasses, and silverware. We bought groceries for breakfast and most lunches and ate dinner out. The Safeway in Lahaina is probably a little cheaper than Star Foods down the road. The front desk staff varied - some were more helpful and accommodating than others. Ask for all the towels that you want.

"Restaurant Recommendations" :: Kimo's in Lahaina was very good; Sea House at Napali Bay Resort was OK; Mama's Fish House was fabulous but very pricey and insist on a table near the windows; Malena Grill was fabulous as well. Do not get a drink at the Maui Airport - we paid $15 for a so so martini. A waste of money. Lahanina Luau was a wonderful experience and would highly recommend; we made the reservations about a month in advance and had front row seats. Food is OK and the show is very very nice. We rented snorkel equipment from Snorkel Bob's both on Maui and our previous week in Oahu and were very pleased with their recommendatios of where to go. It's a little more expensive than Boss Frogg's but the quality was also much better.
