Here is a guest who booked through an owner directly. It speaks very loudly why you do not book from an owner...

"There was only one complete set of towels - not even enough for two people. Since the owner did not participate in the front office rental pool, we could not ask for more towels, or have the cleaning staff make a return trip. ...we witnessed the attention to detail and the pride that the staff showed in all areas - especially the cleaning staff. All of the other units received a very good cleaning..."

The review goes on. Units booked through Maui.US are done through the licensed management group. Mahalo!

"A Great Place To Enjoy Maui Without Getting Gouged" :: We just returned from 5 nights staying at the Hale Pau Hana, and the beach condo atmosphere was great. This place is not a resort or a hotel. Their rates for their condo's generally run about $100 less than a room at the Renaissance per night, and about $200 less than the G. Wailea, so you are definitely not paying resort prices. So what you don't get is daily maid service (they do have it every other day though), modern or fancy furnishings, or a bar and restaurant on site. What you do get is a condo with a killer sunset view of Kamaole II beach, Lanai and Molokini, a great concierge service (that booked us everything from dinner reservations to surf lessons), a good central location for trips to Lahaina, Wailea and central Maui, and a real taste of the local Maui experience. If you want to be waited on don't stay here, pay the extra dinero and go South to Wailea, but if you want to relax and enjoy the Maui lifestyle this is the place, spend the money you save on dinners at Roy's, Nick's. and Mama's, and a day at the G. Wailea spa.

"Fabulous Spot" :: Hale Pau Hana is a great spot for a vacation. First off, it is a small complex right on the beach. Ocean view, ocean front, beachside, are all the same at this place. We have stayed other places in Maui, and ocean view or ocean front can easily mean you are several hundred yards from the water. This is a great swimming beach, easy access, great for kids, calm waves. We have stayed at other hotels in Hawaii where you pay for ocean front only to find out that access to the beach requires climbing over coral or the surf is too strong. Recommend this spot highly, if you want fine dining, Wailea is 5 minutes down the road.

"My First Time In Paradise" :: I highly recommend this resort! I want to thank the staff for going out of their way for me. They are a very nice staff and made me feel welcome. The room was beautiful , and the ocean was even more beautiful. I spent most of my vacation right in front of my room. There's alot of convenient stores and a Denny's right across, that has friendly service . There's enough to do there by the resort , when it comes to beach, restaurants, stores, and photo opportunities. The resort also offers plenty of on-site activities for everyone. Whether you stay there with your family or by yourself, this hotel and location is paradise! I give it 2 thumbs up!
