Aina
Nalu - "We stayed 7 more days at the Grand
Hyatt in Kauai which technically is considered more
luxurious but we liked the Aina Nalu MUCH better..."
I wish I
had learned of the Aina Nalu when I was planning my
honeymoon, I would have stayed there rather than where
we would up staying.
The Aina
Nalu is the newest condominium complex in Lahaina and
recently underwent a very thorough and expensive renovation.
These one
and two bedroom units are clean, modern and stunning.
In addition to full kitchens, the units feature washer/dryer
units that are a tremendously wonderful convenience
to have access to while traveling.
One need
not carry dirty laundry about such a beautiful island!
The Aina Nalu is located two
blocks off the beach, and while this is not normally
a plus, in Lahaina it makes little difference.
Most of Lahaina's shorefront
is a stone wall with little beach, and what beach there
is will be public with possible crowds.
With little or no beach, the
point of being located on the water is moot.
But the major damage point about
Lahaina (listen closely!) is the street noise. Lahaina
is the party town for Maui, with cars and trucks coming
and going and people on the streets at all hours. The
Aina Nalu Resort is a retreat, not party central.
You can enjoy the town and walk
back to a quiet room for real recuperative sleep.
The second floor units tend
to be quieter than the first floor, but guests with
mobility issues should be aware that there are no elevators
on the property.
There are two swimming pools,
one of which is a dramatic infinity pool.
Everyone raves about the quiet
little enclave that is the pool area.
There are some fees that can
be avoided while they last.
There is a fee for internet,
but wifi can be picked up at the pool area for free.
Off street parking is $15 a
day, which is steep even by Maui standards, and even
steeper considering that the on street parking a few
yards away is free.
One note about renting from
the managing agency, in this case Outrigger, versus
renting from a private owner... they are a safety net
and worth every penny.
The units all must conform to
strict quality and cleanliness standards to be considered,
and there is staff to answer your needs while a private
owner is off premises.
